He was born in Dallas, TX on June 22, 1949 to Harold Eckert Williams and Mary Margaret Williams. James attended H. Grady Spruce High School.
He was married to Belinda J. Yates on October 11, 1968.
James worked as a truckdriver for many years. He enjoyed fishing, campfires and being outdoors as well as all kinds of music and sports.
He is survived by his wife of more than 54 years, Belinda J. Williams of Chandler, TX; son James Ray Williams, Jr. and wife Deanna; daughters Tabatha Williams and Beckie and Tim Ervin; Grandchildren Heather and Blake Lankford, Casey and Cody Benson, Cameron and Lexi Smalley, Lauren and Josh Courcy and Landon Ervin; Great-grandchildren Cleo and Addy Lankford, Kaiden Dean and Carter Courcy.
