Fred Smalley Jr., 51, of Dallas, Texas, peacefully departed this life on March 27, 2026. He was born on October 3, 1951, to Fred Smalley Sr. and Savanna Smalley, both of whom preceded him in death.
Fred was educated in the Dallas Independent School District and later pursued college coursework to further his career. He dedicated many years of hard work as a truck driver for Builders Transport, where he was employed for 12 years. He later continued his service to others as a driver for First Choice Adult Day Care, a role he held until his passing.
In 2012, he met his wife Josephine Collins, and from that moment forward, their lives became one. They shared a deep and loving bond for many years and were truly inseparable.
A man of strong faith, Fred was a devoted Christian who joined Goodwill Baptist Church in 2012. There, he faithfully served as a member of the Archive Committee and was a consistent presence each Sunday. Known for his warm smile and welcoming spirit, Fred found joy in greeting others and lifting praise. Even as his health declined, his dedication to his church family and his spirit of fellowship never wavered.
His godmother, Alice Wesley, played a meaningful and cherished role in his life. Their bond was special, and she remained a constant source of love and light to him throughout the years.
To many, he was known as Brother, Dad or Uncle, but to his beloved grandchildren, Andrea Miles and Brenna Miles, he was affectionately known as “Pawpaw,” a title he carried with great pride and love.
Fred was preceded in death by his former spouse, Cheryl Joyce Smalley. From this union came his children in which he leaves to cherish his memory Bryon “BK” Miles, Kendra Smalley, Jerome Ennis, affectionately known as “Lucky” and Fred Smalley III which also proceeded him in death.
Fred is survived by his loving siblings, Cheryl L. Smalley, Gary W. Smalley, and Giselle Smalley, as well as his sister-in-law, Janet Jones and step-daughter Tiffini Miller(Alfonso). He was preceded in death by his siblings Bill Smalley, Bobby Nash, Shirley J. Smalley, Diane D. Smalley, Betty C. Smalley, and Terry H. Smalley.
He also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends who will dearly miss him.
