Alice Marie Rubbles Ross

February 17, 1973 — November 18, 2025

Dallas

Alice Marie Rubbles Kirven Rubbles was born on February 17, 1973, the firstborn child of George and Verta Lee Kirven Ross, and the sister of Derbie Dean Kirven Sowells—each of whom preceded her in death.

Alice grew up in the Furney Richardson community in Teague, Texas, where she accepted Christ at an early age and united with Gibson Chapel A.M.E. Church in Mexia, Texas. She completed her early schooling in Teague, graduating from Furney Richardson High School. Following graduation, Alice moved to Los Angeles, California, where she attended nursing school. After spending ten years in Los Angeles, she returned home to Dallas and united with Greater Garth Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she remained an active and devoted member until her health began to decline. During her time there, she faithfully served in various capacities, including as a choir member and a member of the Women’s Missionary Society.

Alice met the love of her life, Gradie “Ebo” Rubbles, and they were united in holy matrimony on November 29, 1989. They remained devoted to one another until God called him home.

Alice found great comfort in the peace of her home—reading her Bible, books, and articles; listening to gospel music; and expressing her creativity through drawing and coloring, which were among her favorite pastimes.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Gradie Rubbles; her parents, George and Verta Lee Kirven Ross; and her sister, Derbie Kirven Sowells.

She leaves to cherish her memory her nephew, Glenn Sowells (Zenia); great-nephew, Cory Sowells; great-niece, Sharde’ Byrd; and three great-great-nieces, Kayla Sowells, Cassidy Sowells, and Cassie Sowells—all of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Vertis Sowells, along with a host of cousins and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
